Holding On to Everything That Holds Me je introspektivní cirkusové dílo, které zkoumá vztahy mezi tělem, zemí a dědictvím – rodinným, kulturním i intimním.
Autorka propojuje ničení krajiny kolem nás s proměnami našeho vnitřního světa. Vychází z vlastního životního příběhu a zkoumá svou rodovou linii, zejména ženskou část rodiny, jako ztělesněnou přítomnost vyrůstající v prostředí, kde se emoce jen zřídka vyjadřují navenek. Jak souvisejí tato mlčení s procesy destrukce, které pozorujeme v našem okolí?
Prostřednictvím stojek na rukou a manipulace s objekty vzniká fyzická práce pohybující se na hranici vytrvalosti, limitů a obnovy. Vychází ze somatických přístupů, které staví do centra pozornosti vnímání, dotek a představivost. Důležitou součástí inscenace jsou prázdné květináče s hlínou, objekty nesoucí příběhy i vztahy. Autorka obrací ekologickou otázku dovnitř člověka a za doprovodu živé hudby hledá souvislosti mezi pamětí, vyčerpáním a proměnou.
O autorce
Verena Schneider je rakouská autorka a choreografka současného cirkusu, performerka a interdisciplinární umělkyně pohybující se na pomezí nového cirkusu, tance a performance. Studovala současný cirkus na školách Le Lido v Toulouse a FLIC Scuola di Circo, choreografii na CodArts Rotterdam a Fontys v Tilburgu a vystudovala také biologii. Ve své tvorbě propojuje stojky na rukou, akrobatický tanec, manipulaci s objekty a choreografický výzkum, díky čemuž rozvíjí svůj osobitý cirkusový jazyk. Je spoluzakladatelkou souboru Kumquat, který založila v Toulouse společně s Charlotte Le May, a zároveň zakladatelkou vídeňského spolku Freifall. Ve své umělecké práci se dlouhodobě věnuje introspektivnímu přístupu k současnému cirkusu. Zkušenosti se zraněními i fyzickými nároky cirkusové praxe ji vedly k tomu, že do centra svého výzkumu staví ekologii těla. Zkoumá, jak se naslouchání vlastnímu tělu může stát formou odporu i způsobem, jak přijímat zranitelnost, selhání a vzájemnou provázanost. Současný cirkus chápe jako živé umění, které se proměňuje v čase díky péči, pozornosti a schopnosti reagovat na měnící se krajinu – tu vnější i naši vnitřní.
Představení vzniká v rámci rezidenčního programu Cirqueonu.

Holding on to everything I’ve got
“Holding On to Everything That Holds Me” is an introspective, interdisciplinary circus writing that speaks of the relationships between the body, the earth, and inheritances — familial, cultural, and intimate.
This circus body-writing connects the destruction of external landscapes with the erosion of our inner worlds. Starting from my biography, I explore my family lineage — particularly the female line — as an embodied presence emerging from a context in which emotions are rarely expressed. What links exist between these silences and the dynamics of destruction at work in our environment? Through hand balancing and object manipulation, I develop a physical work situated between endurance, limit, and recovery. It is nourished by somatic approaches that place sensation, touch, and imagination at the center of the action. I work with empty pots of soil, both narrative and relational objects. I shift the ecological question inward, and, accompanied by a live musician, allow correspondences to emerge between memory, exhaustion, and transformation.

About the Company
Verena Schneider is an Austrian circus author & choreographer, performer, and interdisciplinary artist working at the intersection of contemporary circus, dance, and performance. With a background in contemporary circus (Le Lido – Toulouse, FLIC Scuola di Circo), choreography (CodArts Rotterdam, Fonty – Tilburg), and biology, her artistic practice brings together hand balancing, acro-dance, object manipulation, and choreographic research to develop a personal circus language. She is the co-founder of the circus company Kumquat, together with Charlotte Le May in Toulouse, and the founder of the Vienna-based association Freifall.Her artistic research focuses on an introspective approach to contemporary circus. Shaped by experiences of injury and the physical demands of circus practice, she places the ecology of the body at the centre of her work. Through this ongoing research, she explores how listening to the body can become an act of resistance—a way of embracing vulnerability, failure, and interdependence. Her practice understands circus as an evolving art form that transforms over time with care, attentiveness, and responsiveness to the changing landscapes—both internal and external—that shape our lives.
