WHAT DREAMS MAY COME IN THE SLEEPLESS NIGHT je fyzicko-divadelní projekt, který propojuje pohyb, objekty a slova, aby zkoumal prázdnotu mezi minulostí a budoucností.
Dílo je inspirováno Hamletem, jak ve verzi Shakespearově, tak i ve skandinávských kořenech příběhu o Amlethovi, kdy se princova touha po pomstě stává metaforou pro moderní zápas o vyrovnání se s politickým a osobním traumatem.
Co znamená být oddělen od lásky?
Máme vymazat vše dobré a držet se jen nenávisti?
Může nás následování vlastního snu zradit vůči identitě v rámci kolektivu? Jak pak jít dál?
Propletením fyzického projevu, materiálnosti, osobních vzpomínek a autorského textu inspirovaného Hamletem se toto představení ponořuje do složitostí traumatu, identity a morální volby v době politického zmatku. Zkoumá vzdálenost uvnitř a mezi jednotlivci i kolektivem a jejich sny. Zkoumí také pocit odcizení od domova a sounáležitosti.
Představení bude v angličtině.
Projekt vzniká v rámci rezidenčního programu CIRQUEONu, který je podporován Magistrátem hlavního města Prahy a Ministerstvem kultury. Projekt je podpořen prostřednictvím Národního plánu obnovy.
Chester Wong je divadelní umělec z Hongkongu. V roce 2008 absolvoval školu dramatických umění na Hongkongské akademii múzických umění, obor herectví. Pracoval jako herec pro Hong Kong Repertory Theatre a Atelier Theatre Hong Kong. V současnosti studuje magisterský program fyzického divadla na Accademia Dimitri ve Švýcarsku.
Za inscenace The Isle (Hong Kong Repertory Theatre) a Le Grand Cahier (The Nonsense Makers) získal ocenění za nejlepší původní hudbu na 32. a 22. ročníku Hongkongských divadelních cen.
Byl také nominován na cenu za nejlepší původní hudbu (inscenace SEVEN), na nejlepší mužský herecký výkon ve vedlejší roli (inscenace A Flea in Her Ear) a na cenu pro nejlepšího herce na 3. ročníku Hong Kong Theatre Libre.

merges movement, objects, and text to explore the void between past and future.
Inspired by Hamlet, both in Shakespeare’s version and in its Scandinavian roots with the
story of Amleth — the prince’s quest for revenge becomes a metaphor for the modern
struggle to reconcile political and personal trauma. What does it mean to be severed from
love? Should we erase all that is good and cling only to hate? Can pursuing a personal
dream betray one’s identity within the collective? How should we move forward?
Weaving together physicality, materiality, personal memory and self-written authorial text
inspired by Hamlet, this performance delves into the complexities of trauma, identity, and
moral choice amidst political turmoil. It explores the distance within — between
individuals, between people and their dreams, and the sense of alienation from home and
belonging.
The performance will be presented in English.
Chester Wong is a theatre artist from Hong Kong. In 2008
he graduated from the School of Drama, the Hong Kong
Academy for Performing Arts, majoring in Acting.
He has worked as a full-time actor for the Hong Kong
Repertory Theatre and Atelier Theatre Hong Kong
respectively.
He is currently doing his physical theatre master study in
Accademia Dimitri (Switzerland).
With the production The Isle of Hong Kong Repertory Theatre and Le Grand Cahier of the
Nonsense Makers, he received the Best Original Music of the 32th and 22th Hong Kong
Drama Awards respectively. He was also nominated for the Best Original Music in the
Hong Kong Drama Awards (SEVEN), the Best Support Male Actor in the Hong Kong
Drama Awards (A Flea in Her Ear), the Best Actor in the 3rd Hong Kong Theatre Libre
(Carbaret 2011).
