The Bratři v Tricku (Brothers in Trick) juggling duo is based in Prague and was founded by Václav Jelínek and Adam Jarchovský in 2009.
Václav Jelínek graduated from DAMU (Prague theater academy) as an alternative and puppet theater major. Currently, he is a freelance actor. He cooperates with the Mimotaurus theater, the Letí theater, Teatro Pantomissimo, the Spitfire Company and Circus Sacra. For a period of time, Václav taught juggling at the Department of Mime at HAMU.
Adam Jarchovský co-founded the Kruhová Parabola group and performed with them in the Czech Republic and abroad for three years. Adam teaches juggling at the KC Zahrada cultural center and cooperates with the Švandovo Divadlo studio and the Pexeso center. For two years, he has been visiting children’s homes as a part of a program of the Můzy Dětem NGO.
Style
Bratři v Tricku specialize in combining technically demanding juggling with movement and acting. They strive to depart from rigid circus-show structures and create modern shows. Their performances are designed to entertain the audience not only with refined juggling but also with theatrical expression.
Current activities
Bratři v Tricku first performed in front of a live audience at the Letní Letná festival in 2009 and have been appearing at many different events ever since. Their shows were seen by thousands of spectators in the Czech Republic, Spain, Finland, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Slovakia and also at the EXPO 2010 in Shanghai, China, where they represented the Czech Republic as a part of a V.O.S.A. project.
Both jugglers also participate in the activities of the Artists 4 Children NGO which involves visiting socially excluded locations, Roma settlements and ghettos, for example, in Bosnia and Herzegovina or Macedonia. They teach children’s workshops based on the globally recognized social-circus model.
In 2010, Bratři v Tricku met Kristýna Vlčková, a rope walker, juggler and a graduate of the École De Cirque de Bordeaux circus school in France, and started cooperating under the name of (bra)Tři v Tricku. Their first joint project was entitled Plovárna (Lido).
