Léto 2026 bude mimo jiné patřit třetímu ročníku projektu IMAC – Inter-magazine Circus Festival, jedinečného mezinárodního festivalu, který propojuje nový cirkus, kritickou reflexi a žurnalistiku zaměřenou na kulturu. Do projektu se letos zapojilo šest mezinárodních cirkusových médií a platforem, mezi nimi i Cirqueon.
IMAC vznikl jako prostor pro sdílení různých pohledů na nový cirkus a performativní umění. Letošní ročník přináší reflexe deseti představení uvedených na festivalu UP – Circus & Performing Arts Festival 2026, které zpracovalo dvanáct studentek a studentů magisterského programu Arts du spectacle na Université Libre de Bruxelles.
Autoři a autorky přicházejí z různých oborů, od literatury a žurnalistiky přes herectví až po studia z oblasti kultury. Někteří se novému cirkusu věnují dlouhodobě, jiní se s ním setkávají poprvé. Právě rozmanitost jejich zkušeností a perspektiv je jednou z největších hodnot celého projektu.
V rámci programu Circus | Studies mají studenti možnost seznamovat se s dramaturgií nového cirkusu, spolupracovat s nastupujícími umělci a umělkyněmi a rozvíjet své dovednosti v oblasti analýzy a kritiky cirkusových představení. Výsledkem jsou články, které otevírají prostor pro diskusi, otázky i nové způsoby uvažování o novém cirkusu.
První texty letošního ročníku jsou již k přečtení. Jedná se o článek Chwallow or Friction od Louise Gouwy-Bacquet, věnovaný představení Chwallow a text The bended logics of an underworld od Sunnivy Fliflet, který reflektuje představení Symbiosis.
Vedle Cirqueonu se do letošního ročníku IMAC zapojila také média a platformy Juggling Magazine, StageLync, Zirkólika, DYNAMO Magazine a Sztuka Cyrku. Projekt vzniká pod hlavičkou mezinárodní sítě INCAM (International Network of Circus Arts Magazines) a dlouhodobě podporuje rozvoj cirkusové kritiky, odborné reflexe a mezinárodní spolupráce.
Přejeme inspirativní čtení a věříme, že články nabídnou nové pohledy na současný cirkus i jeho místo v dnešním světě.

Dear Audience,
we proudly present the third edition of IMAC. Unique in its design, this inter-magazine Circus Festival brings together 6 international circus magazines, 10 performances featured at UP- Circus & Performing Arts Festival 2026, and 12 students from the Université Libre de Bruxelles, who share their thoughts and questions on what is currently being shown on stage and in the ring. Their perspectives and approaches are thereby as diverse as their backgrounds: coming from a variety of fields such as literature, journalism, acting or cultural studies, some of them are familiar with the art form whereas others offer reflections from the perspective of circus-newcomers. What unites them: a curiosity for the performing arts, which made them choose to study the MA Arts du spectacle . This program offers the discovery of a diversity of artforms – including the circus. In the context of the project Circus | Studies, theatre students at the Université Libre de Bruxelles have the opportunity to explore circus dramaturgy. While collaborating with emerging artists, they can take first steps in the analysis and critique of circus performances or contribute to academic conferences dedicated to the circus. These adventures ultimately take shape in the form of MA theses or articles such as the following.
